Airmail to Europe – £29; Rest of the world; £34 ISSN No: 2047-2781 Spring, with its warmer, hopefully drier weather, should be an ideal time for people to work on their self-build and renovation projects. While our weather patterns here in the UK might not always work out that way, hopefully there will be more fair days ahead for you to really make some headway with your builds in the coming months. This issue of Your Build is packed full of top tips, design ideas, advice on materials and product selection, plus general advice to help you make the right decisions with your project. We’ve also compiled a selection of exclusive articles that look at all aspects of self-build and renovation projects, ranging from getting your fi nance and budgets right, and understanding your borrowing options available (page 10); to advice when it comes to tackling a home extension (page 18); a self-builder’s guide to rainwater harvesting (page 32); and how to enhance the ventilation in your home (page 42). As we start thinking about the clocks going forward, we are reminded that maximising natural light in our homes is crucial. We hear from Crittall Windows who discusses steel-framed glazed internal screens and windows, and how rather than fi tting a dividing wall and blocking out light, a great alternative is to install an interior steel screen, which lets light fl ood in (page 46). Meanwhile, we also hear from Paul Wagstaff from Bradstone who explains why the materials we use on our exterior projects are now on par with interior fi nishes in terms of design and quality (page 64). Sticking with the theme of creative design and use of space, we also look to the kitchen and hear from Steve Tough at Masterclass Kitchens who discusses how you can create a high-end, modern kitchen without a huge amount of fl oor space (page 56). So, read on for all of this and much more. We hope you enjoy the issue, and don’t forget to let me know how your projects are progressing by emailing me at nichola.farrugia@markallengroup.com.
